About Rock Creek Studios...

My musical experience began in my early days when after three years of formal piano lessons, ending at age 8, my parents placed me on stage playing with a family band.  I later and join the vocal team of the Gospel Carriers and become the sound engineer soon after.  While performing with this group, I was provided many opportunities to formulate and lead several youth musical activities such as youth choir, youth musicals, children's church, youth praise and worship bands and to serve as pianist or organist for several local churches.  In 1993, I took a sabbatical for six years for a BBA degree with a focus in Accounting and Political Science at East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, Tennessee.   Well, the rest may be read on my professional site, Bryon E. Ownby.

My first unique performance challenge came when I joined Grace Fellowship Church, Johnson City (2002 - 2003) and later Cokesbury United Methodist Church, Knoxville (2007) leading youth, young adult, or main congregation contemporary praise and worship services as vocalist and instrumentalist.  In 2005, I coordinated, with my father and younger brother, to form English Mountain Boys (a bluegrass band) as one of the instrumentalist, vocalist, producer, and sound engineer.

My more recent projects have led to serving the local Knoxville performing arts community with Wild Thyme Players as music director and composer for several theatrical productions utilizing many genres of music and also composing original pieces for underscoring the productions.  My most recent project was music and choir director for Theatre Knoxville Downtown Gift of the Magi production.  In the mean time, I am actively involved in the launch of a new band, New Sound!, which will be performing primarily in the southeast region of the US.

Hope to hear from you soon...
